Introduzindo e problematizando papéis temáticos e hierarquias temáticas : uma questão de interfaces

Abstract

Os papéis temáticos e as hierarquias temáticas vem sendo largamente utilizados nas teorias linguísticas que visam a tratar da realização argumental. Neste trabalho, nossos objetivos específicos são (a) introduzir e problematizar papéis temáticos e hierarquias temáticas; e (b) demonstrar que as utilização das noções de papéis temáticos e de hierarquia temática refletem a interface entre sintaxe, semântica e pragmática. Para chegar a isso, faremos uma revisão da literatura a respeito dos papéis temáticos, focando as questões controversas da teoria. Por fim, chegaremos a conclusão de que (i) os papéis temáticos não podem ser os primitivos para a realização argumental, mas ainda podem ser largamente utilizados em descrições linguísticas como elementos da descrição primária da língua, e (ii) de que as hierarquias temáticas refletem generalizações acerca realização dos argumentos guiadas pela interfaces da semântica, da sintaxe e da estrutura informacional.

The thematic roles and thematic hierarchies have been utilized largely in linguistic theory which focus on argument realization. In this work, our specific aims are (a) to introduce and to discuss the thematic roles and the thematic hierarchies; and (b) to demonstrate that the utilization of notion of the thematic roles and the thematic hierarchies reflects the interface between syntax, semantics and pragmatics. In order to prove this idea, we will make a revision of literature about thematic roles, focusing the controversial questions of this theory. At the end, we will come to two conclusions: (i) the thematic roles can not be the primitives to argument realization, but even can be largely utilized in linguistic descriptions as elements of primary description of language; e (ii) the thematic hierarchies reflect generalizations about argument realizations governs by interfaces between semantics, syntax and informational structure.
