A reestruturação da base industrial de defesa estadunidense no Pós-Guerra Fria e suas consequências estratégicas (1989-2001)

Abstract

A presente pesquisa disserta acerca da evolução da Base Industrial de Defesa (BID) estadunidense no pós-Guerra Fria. Observa-se, nesse período, um processo singular de transformações estruturais na BID, iniciadas no governo de George H. W. Bush (1989-1993) e aprofundadas na gestão de Bill Clinton (1993-2001), especialmente a partir de sua política de promoção às fusões e aquisições dentro do programa Bottom-up Review. Tem-se como objetivo geral identificar e analisar as principais transformações na BID entre os anos de 1989-2001, bem como traçar as possíveis implicações estratégicas desse processo de reestruturação para a organização da produção de materiais bélicos no país.

The present research discusses the evolution of the American Defense Industrial Base (DIB) in the post-Cold War era. In this short period, there is a unique process of structural transformations in the defense industry, begun under George H. W. Bush administration (1989-1993) and intensified under the administration of Bill Clinton (1993-2001), especially after his policy of incentives for mergers and acquisitions within the Bottom-up Review program. The general objective of the study is to identify and analyze the main transformations in the DIB between 1989 and 2001, as well as to outline the possible strategic implications of this restructuring process for the organization of the military production in the United States.
