As editoras universitárias e o livro digital : algumas reflexões sobre o tema

Abstract

O livro digital tem sido uma das opções das editoras universitárias, porém quais são as problemáticas sobre sua organização, representação e disseminação? Este trabalho busca analisar o livro eletrônico no contexto da comunicação científica na área da Ciência da Informação, a fim de identificar na literatura a epistemologia do conceito de livro digital/eletrônico e discutir a problemática do livro na recuperação da informação em ambiente digital, levando em consideração a sua representação temática e descritiva. Trata alguns aspectos quanto ao livro digital referente a suas características, principalmente em suas estruturas textuais e seu uso, e como pode impactar na comunicação científica. Evidencia alguns pontos que podem ser melhorados com relação ao processo de indexação, buscando ferramentas que possam integrar o livro com seus capítulos, ampliando a visibilidade na web e garantindo a partir da sua representação apropriada e da recuperação das informações, sua preservação a longo prazo. Este trabalho utilizou como metodologia a revisão bibliográfica, entretanto, seu cerne estabelece mais problemáticas da visibilidade do livro digital pelas editoras universitárias, do que soluções.

The digital book has been one of the choices of university publishers, but what are the problems about its organization, representation and dissemination? This paper seeks to analyze the electronic book in the context of scientific communication in the area of Information Science, in order to identify in the literature, the epistemology of the concept of digital/electronic book and to discuss the problematic of the book in the retrieval of information in digital environment, taking into account its thematic and descriptive representation. Some aspects regarding the digital book related to its characteristics, mainly in its textual structures and its use, and how it can impact scientific communication. It highlights some points that can be improved in relation to the indexing process, looking for tools that can integrate the book with its chapters, expanding the visibility on the web and ensuring from its proper representation and the recovery of information, its long-term preservation. This assignment used as methodology the bibliographic review, however, its core establishes more problems of the visibility of the digital book by the university publishers, than solutions.
