"I'm not hiding in the shadows anymore": o queer e a performance musical na representação midiática de Mykki Blanco

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa a performance do rapper Mykki Blanco em sua representação midiática, a partir do vídeo produzido pelo site Mi.lk para a matéria Mykki Blanco: "I'm not hiding in the shadows anymore" [exclusive], publicada em 04 de setembro de 2015. Com os cruzamentos dos Estudos Culturais, da Teoria queer e dos estudos de performance, reflete-se sobre a fragmentação e as fronteiras que definem identidade, as subversões das normas reguladoras de gênero e sexualidade e os elementos que compõem a performance musical. Observou-se que o objeto de análise é composto de um caráter híbrido presente na mistura de formatos comunicacionais, no dinamismo da edição não-linear e na influência da estética do videoclipe contemporâneo. A partir dessa observação e de um mapeamento midiático do artista, foi possível concluir que os hibridismos presentes no vídeo dialogam com a maneira como Mykki Blanco é midiaticamente representado: como um corpo em constante transformação que exalta sua multiplicidade para questionar coerências e subverter concepções normativas sobre identidade nos movimentos em que está inserido.

This paper analyzes the performance of rapper Mykki Blanco in his media representation, based on the video produced by the website Mi.lk for the article Mykki Blanco: ‘I’m not hiding in the shadows anymore’ [exclusive], published on September 4, 2015. From the intersection of Cultural Studies, Queer Theory and performance studies, we reflect about the fragmentation and limits that defines identity, the subversion of regulating gender and sexuality norms and the elements that compose musical performances. So, it was possible to observe that the video is composed of a hybridism present in the mixture of communicational formats, in the dynamism of non-linear editing and in the influence of the contemporary video clip aesthetic. Based on that observation and on a mapping of the artist’s media representation, it was possible to conclude that the hybridisms present in the video interact with the way Mykki Blanco is represented in the media: as a body in constant transformation that exalts its multiplicity to question coherencies and subvert normative conceptions of identity in the movements that the artist is inserted.
