The present paper deals with the phonetic interference during the development of the listening and pronunciation skills in the initial stage o f a FI:s (Russian) teaching!learning process. It also presents one of the possible methodologies for developing these skills in Brazilian students attending FL courses outside the linguistic environment, with the aid of a Phonetic Ling aphonic Course for out-ofclass self-study that meets the social demand. In order to do so, the paper presents the necessary researches carried out to create a methodology for teaching/learning the FL's segmenta[ phonetic for Brazilian Portuguese-speaking students at the initial stage of learning. The specificities of the students' mother tongue and the difficulties arising from teaching a language outside the natural linguistic environment are taken into account, aiming at mitigating the phonetic interference over the listening and pronunciation perception. ...
