Cronaca di Partenope : mito de origem e legitimição angevina em um crônica do século XIV

Abstract

O presente trabalho de conclusão tem por objetivo analisar a Cronaca di Partenope, crônica napolitana do século XIV, atribuída a Bartolomeo Caracciolo-Carrafa, cortesão da corte angevina de Nápoles. O estudo se concentrará na tentativa de legitimação da Casa de Anjou por meio da criação de mito(s) de origem que estão presentes ao longo do texto cronístico. O escrito será analisado para localizar em que passagens é possível identificar esses mitos, contextualizando-os, posteriormente, na história do período. Quais os mecanismos que o redator opera para inserir os angevinos na história napolitana? Quais são os pontos mais tratados e aqueles silenciados dentro da crônica de Partenope e o que eles podem revelar sobre a legitimação da dinastia? Essas questões são levantadas e debatidas no trabalho de forma sucinta, através de trechos selecionados, traduzidos e analisados sob o enfoque discursivo. Ao concluir o trabalho, percebeu-se que a Casa de Anjou, ao encomendar uma história – em vernáculo – de Nápoles, tentou legitimar-se como governante de um reino nascente, visto a perda da Sicília em 1282 e a nova configuração territorial da região, com Nápoles como capital após essa data.

The present final paper aims to analyze the Cronaca di Partenope, Neapolitan chronicle of the fourteenth century, attributed to Bartolomeo Caracciolo-Carrafa, courtier of the Angevin court of Naples. The study will focus on the attempt to legitimize the House of Anjou by creating myth(s) of origin that are present throughout the chronistic text. The chroniclewill be analyzed to localize in which passages it is possible to identify these myths, contextualizing them, later, in the history of the period. What mechanisms does the writer operate to insert the Angevins in Neapolitan history? What are the most treated and silenced points within Partenope's chronicle and what can they reveal about the legitimacy of the dynasty? These issues are raised and debated in thisfinal paperin a succinct way, through selected excerpts, translated and analyzed under the discursive approach. At the conclusion of the research, it was perceived that the House of Anjou, when ordering a history - in vernacular - of Naples, tried to legitimize itself like ruler of a nascent kingdom, in view of the loss of Sicily in 1282 and the new territorial configuration of the region, with Naples as capital after that date.
