Narrativas de um tempo : discursos expográficos sobre a história das Reduções Jesuíticas no Brasil e Argentina

Abstract

Os jesuítas recém-chegados na América do Sul instalaram reduções jesuíticas para catequização dos nativos, que ficaram conhecidas como Trinta Povos das Missões. Séculos mais tarde, as ruínas dos povoados foram consideradas patrimônio nacional e internacional, reconhecidas por seu valor histórico único. Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar de que forma o Museu das Missões de São Miguel das Missões (Brasil) e o Museu Jesuítico de San Ignacio Miní (Argentina) apresentam a história das reduções jesuíticas através dos objetos nas exposições de longa duração. Para essa investigação, a pesquisa foi realizada em forma de estudo de caso com abordagem qualitativa, utilizando como metodologia a análise documental, por meio de documentos e sites vinculados às instituições, bem como observações in loco e coleta de dados durante as visitas. Os principais conceitos que basearam a análise foram os de musealização (CURY, 1999; 2005; DESVALLÉES, MAIRESSE, 2013; BRUNO, 2014), exposição (SCHEINER, 2002; KNAUSS, 2003; GUARNIERI, 2010) e o conceito de chaves associativas (BLANCO, 2009). O trabalho contemplou um breve histórico das reduções e o contexto de criação dos museus missioneiros, para compreender as decisões curatoriais e os critérios de associação que compõem a narrativa expográfica apresentada. Conclui que os objetos são fonte de múltiplas possibilidades de contextualização e que os museus missioneiros podem criar inúmeros discursos para narrar e problematizar a história das reduções jesuíticas, mas também levando em consideração as relações estabelecidas com o público externo.

The newcomers Jesuits installed the Jesuit Reductions in South America, later known as Thirty Missions, willing to catechize native people. Centuries later, the ruins of the villages were listed as national and international heritage, recognized by their unique historical value. The purpose of this work is to analyze how does the Missions Museum (Brazil) and the Jesuit Museum of San Ignacio Miní (Argentina) present the Jesuits Reductions‟ history in their permanent exhibition, especially through their objects. This investigation consists in a study case of qualitative approach, and applies as methodology documental analysis such as documents and institutional websites, in conjunction with on-site observations and data collected during the visits. The theoretical concepts that grounded this analysis were musealization (CURY, 1999; 2005; DESVALLÉES, MAIRESSE, 2013; BRUNO, 2014), exhibition (SCHEINER, 2002; KNAUSS, 2003; GUARNIERI, 2010) and the concept of association criteria (BLANCO, 2009). The work presents a brief history of the Jesuit Reductions and the background of these missionary museums, in way to understand their curatorial definitions as well as the association criteria used in the exhibition‟s narratives. It concludes that the objects are source of multiple possibilities of interpretation and the missionary museums can create countless narratives to tell the Jesuits Reductions‟s history, and also establishing a dialogue with their visitors.
