A educação ambiental do Jardim Botânico de Porto Alegre em um contexto de incertezas

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo mapear algumas das contribuições do Jardim Botânico de Porto Alegre como espaço de educação ambiental, considerando o contexto de ameaça de extinção da Fundação Zoobotânica do Rio Grande do Sul (FZB), instituição que o mantém. Primeiramente, será apresentada uma revisão acerca da relação indissociável existente entre os jardins botânicos e a educação ambiental. Após, serão feitas considerações sobre as conquistas do Jardim Botânico de Porto Alegre e os riscos que tem sofrido em função da ameaça de extinção da FZB. Por fim, a educação ambiental promovida pelo Jardim Botânico de Porto Alegre será retratada através da reconstituição da história do Núcleo de Educação Ambiental Irmão Teodoro Luís, da análise dos dados de visitação à instituição entre os anos de 2013 e 2016 e da análise das atividades de educação ambiental oferecidas ao público. Uma destas atividades, o Curso de Formação de Educadores, teve duas de suas edições investigadas através da observação, da entrevista com seu ministrante e da aplicação de questionários com os participantes.

The present work aims to map some of the contributions of the Porto Alegre Botanical Garden as an space of environmental education, considering the context of the threat of extinction of the Fundação Zoobotânica do Rio Grande do Sul (FZB), the institution that maintains it. Firstly, a review will be presented on the inseparable relationship between botanic gardens and environmental education. Afterwards, there will be considerations about the achievements of the Porto Alegre Botanical Garden and the risks it has suffered due to the threat of extinction of the FZB. Finally, environmental education promoted by the Porto Alegre Botanical Garden will be presented through the reconstitution of the history of the Environmental Education Center Irmão Teodoro Luís, the analysis of the visitation data to the institution between the years of 2013 and 2016 and the analysis of the activities of environmental education offered to the public. One of these activities, the Educators' Training Course, had two of its editions investigated through observation, the interview with its minister and the application of questionnaires with the participants.
