Patentes na área da Música: análise dos depósitos de patentes de instrumentos musicais

Abstract

O presente estudo investiga o panorama das patentes de instrumentos musicais por meio da análise dos depositantes, dos escritórios e países, e da classificação dos assuntos. Sabe-se que os instrumentos musicais acompanham o ser humano desde os seus primórdios, onde o primeiro instrumento a existir foi a voz, um instrumento natural do homem. A partir daí surgiram outros como a flauta e os instrumentos percussivos. A tecnologia evoluiu chegando ao século XX com instrumentos e dispositivos mais avançados tecnologicamente, os quais são patenteados trazendo a inovação para a indústria da música. Com o crescente desenvolvimento desses instrumentos, buscou-se, através da análise patentométrica compreender as características relacionadas à área, contribuindo para as pesquisas de patentometria. Surgindo, assim, o problema desta pesquisa: Quais as características dos depósitos de patentes de instrumentos musicais indexados na Base de Dados Derwent Innovations Index? Têm como justificativa a necessidade de preencher uma lacuna entre a Ciência da Informação e a Música, buscando analisar quantitativamente as inovações na área da música e o que está sendo patenteado para a indústria da música, conhecendo o cenário mundial desta área. A pesquisa se caracteriza por ser de natureza básica, de abordagem quantitativa, objetivo descritivo, adotando como procedimento a patentometria. Foram recuperados 18.426 registros de patentes, sendo filtrados os 10 maiores depositantes institucionais do estudo, através da Derwent Innovations Index. A partir dos resultados, observou-se a presença de importantes empresas do cenário mundial da indústria da música, tendo entre elas empresas de diversos produtos, além de produtos musicais. Percebe-se que a maioria dos depósitos está classificada na subclasse G10H que contempla todos os instrumentos eletrofônicos (seção G- Física).Na análise temporal percebe-se que há um crescimento da produção tecnológica apesar de algumas oscilações e que há uma intensa produção de instrumentos musicais no continente asiático, concentrando-se no Japão.

The present study aims to investigate the patent overview of musical instruments through the analysis of depositors, offices and countries, and the classification of the subjects. It is known that musical instruments exist since the beginning of the human species, where the first instrument to exist was the voice, a natural instrument of the human being. From there came up others like the flute and the percussive instruments. Technology has evolved into the twentieth century with instruments and devices more technologically advanced, which were patented bringing innovation to the music industry. With the increasing development of these instruments, it was intended to understand the characteristics related to the area through the patentometric analysis, contributing to patentometry research. Arising, then, the question of this research: What are the characteristics of musical instrument patent deposits indexed in the Derwent Innovations Index Database? There is a need to fill a gap between Information Science and Music, seeking to quantitatively analyze innovations in the field of music and what is being patented for the music industry, knowing the world scene in this area. This research is characterized by being of basic nature, quantitative approach and descriptive objective, adopting as a procedure the patentometry. A total of 18,426 patent registrations were recovered and the 10 largest institutional depositors of the study were filtered through the Derwent Innovations Index. From the results, it was observed the presence of important companies of the world scene of the music industry, having among them companies of diverse products, as well as musical products. It is noticed that the majority of the deposits are classified in subclass G10H that contemplates all the electrophonic instruments (section G-Physics).In the temporal analysis it is noticed that there is a growth of the technological production despite some oscillations and that there is an intense production of musical instruments in the Asian continent, concentrating in Japan.
