Porque narrar é contar : as vozes em evidência na trilogia Os filhos de próspero, de Ruy Duarte de Carvalho

Abstract

Esta tese analisa os livros que compõem a trilogia Os Filhos de próspero, de Ruy Duarte de Carvalho: Os papéis do Inglês (2007), As paisagens Propícias (2005) e A terceira Metade (2009), a partir de teorias que discutem a função do autor, narrador e personagens. Observamos que, na trajetória literária de Ruy Duarte, os livros da tríade receberam uma atenção intencionalmente ficcional, dado que na obra Vou lá visitar pastores (2000) o autor ainda não manifestava isso claramente. Com isso percebemos muitas particularidades relacionadas à sua escrita criativa, carentes de um estudo mais aprofundado, já que, ao fazer buscas na fortuna crítica não encontramos trabalhos que abordassem essa temática. Por isso, neste estudo a ênfase foi observar a evidência de vozes discursivas, que defendemos ser fruto de um projeto literário planejado. Os constantes desdobramentos que ele fez em autor, narrador e personagem revelam sua intencionalidade em explorar a discursividade narrativa, evidenciando um dialogismo que funciona de modo gradual nas três obras da trilogia. Temos a impressão de que, à medida que o autor explora esse recurso, vai tendo mais segurança em aplicá-lo. Portanto, analisar e evidenciar as vozes discursivas que se apresentam na trilogia Os Filhos de Próspero é a base de sustentação da tese, a partir da interpretação das obras, entendermos o lugar de fala das vozes das personagens, e a distinção em relação à voz do autor/narrador. Nesse sentido, para realizar tal leitura, foi crucial a contribuição teórica de Rita Chaves e Laura Cavalcante Padilha. A partir disso, defender a natureza dialógica dos romances do corpus. De modo que elencamos alguns estudiosos importantes na elucidação desses aspectos: Mikhail Bakhtin, Michel Foucault, Roland Barthes, Diana Irene Klinger, Clifford Geertz, James Clifford, entre outros; posto que as questões levantadas por esses teóricos sobre: autoria, polifonia, dialogismo, plurilinguismo, autoficção, autoetnografia e autobiografia foram de suma relevância e nortearam o foco investigativo.

This thesis analyzes the books that make up the trilogy Os Filhos de Próspero, by Ruy Duarte de Carvalho: Os papéis do Inglês (2007), As paisagens propícias (2005) and A terceira Metade (2009), based on theories discuss the role of the author, narrator and characters. We observe that, in Ruy Duarte's literary trajectory, the books of the triad received intentionally fictional attention, given that in the work Vou lá visitar pastores (2000) the author still didn´t manifest this clearly. With this, we noticed many particularities related to his creative writing, lacking further study, since, when searching the critical fortune, we did not find works that addressed this theme. Therefore, in this study, the emphasis was to observe the evidence of discursive voices, which we defend to be the result of a planned literary project. The constant developments that he made in author, narrator and character reveal his intention to explore narrative discursiveness, evidencing a dialogism that works gradually in the three works of the trilogy. We have the impression that, as the author explores this resource, he will have more security in applying it. Therefore, analyzing and highlighting the discursive voices that appear in the trilogy Os Filhos de Próspero is the basis of the thesis, based on the interpretation of the works, we understand the place of speech of the character’s voice, and the distinction in relation to the voice of the author/narrator. In this sense, to carry out this reading, the theoretical contribution of Rita Chaves and Laura Cavalcante Padilha was crucial. From this, to defend the dialogical nature of the novel’s corpus. So, we list some important scholars in the elucidating these aspects: Mikhail Bakhtin, Michel Foucault, Roland Barthes, Diana Irene Klinger, Clifford Geertz, James Clifford, among others; since the questions raised by these theorists about: authorship, polyphony, dialogism, plurilingualism, self-fiction, self-ethnography and autobiography were extremely relevant and guided the investigative focus.
