Traduzir o Brasil, a Argentina e o mundo : coleções de literatura estrangeira nas décadas de 1930, 1940 e 1950 e nas duas primeiras décadas do século XXI

Abstract

Este trabalho aborda a tradução de literatura estrangeira no Brasil e na Argentina em dois momentos históricos distintos. O primeiro refere-se às décadas de 1930, 1940 e 1950 e para tratar dele utilizamos uma dupla abordagem, analisando tanto as relações entre os sistemas literários dos dois países quanto as relações de cada um deles com o sistema mais amplo da literatura ocidental, principalmente por meio da reconstrução e análise dos catálogos de quatro coleções publicadas pelas editoras mais representativas do período. O segundo momento refere-se às duas primeiras décadas do século XXI, caracterizado por uma configuração totalmente distinta do mundo editorial. Para tratar deste período, abordamos a publicação de literatura brasileira na Argentina e de literatura argentina no Brasil, analisando três coleções publicadas por editoras argentinas em que se destaca a presença da obra de escritores brasileiros.

This work deals with the translation of foreign literature in Brazil and Argentina in two different historical moments. The first moment refers to the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s and we use a dual approach to address it, analyzing not only the relations between the literary systems of the two countries but also the relations that each of them maintained with the broader system of Western literature, mainly through the reconstruction and analysis of the catalogs of four collections published by the most representative publishers of the period. The second moment refers to the first two decades of the 21st century, characterized by an entirely distinct configuration of the publishing world. To address this moment, we approach the publication of Brazilian literature in Argentina and of Argentine literature in Brazil, analyzing three collections published in Argentina in which the presence of the work of Brazilian writers is very strong.
