Portugueses na Ásia oriental : uma análise conectada sobre a rota de Macau a Nagasaki (1557-1640)

Abstract

O presente trabalho contempla a evolução das interações sociais entre portugueses, japoneses e chineses no contexto de comércio entre a cidade de Macau, na China, e Nagasaki, no Japão. Para tanto, foram analisadas em uma perspectiva conectada as circunstâncias que levaram os lusitanos aos mares, a crise dinástica que levou à queda dos Ming e as guerras civis que eventualmente resultaram na ascensão do Xogunato Tokugawa. Nesse contexto de intercâmbio comercial, a atenção voltou-se ao momento de estabelecimento português nas respectivas regiões, ao momento de auge da rota comercial e ao declínio das relações luso-nipônicas que enfim levaram à expulsão dos portugueses no Japão.

The present work contemplates the evolution of social interactions between the Portuguese, the Japanese and the Chinese in the context of commercial trade between Macau, in China, and Nagasaki, in Japan. In order to do so, the circumstances that led the Portuguese to the seas, the dynastic crisis that led to the fall of the Ming and the civil wars that eventually resulted in the rise of the Tokugawa Shogunate were analyzed in a connected perspective. In this context of commercial exchange, the focus turned to the moment of Portuguese establishment in the respective regions, to the peak of the commercial route and to the decline of Luso-Japanese relations that finally led to the expulsion of the Portuguese from Japan.
