Sensoriamento remoto para análise dos efeitos da estiagem sobre a cobertura vegetal do município de Rolador, RS

Abstract

Um período de estiagem foi registrado no estado do Rio Grande do Sul em 2022, alterando a dinâmica da paisagem e comprometendo o desempenho da agricultura gaúcha. A observação do comportamento espectral da vegetação durante eventos climáticos extremos é importante para a compreensão da intensidade destes processos e para a análise de tendências futuras. O objetivo principal desta pesquisa foi analisar o comportamento da cobertura vegetal do município de Rolador - RS durante o período de estiagem registrado durante a safra de verão de 2021/2022, evento que atingiu fortemente este estado e produziu impactos significativos em toda a economia gaúcha. Para atingir os objetivos propostos, a área de estudo foi delimitada com a classificação de uso e cobertura da terra do município e foram selecionados os polígonos classificados como agricultura. Uma caracterização climática foi realizada durante as safras de culturas de verão em um período de normalidade climática e o período de estiagem em estudo. Séries temporais utilizando Índices de Vegetação por Diferença Normalizada (NDVI) para os polígonos de agricultura, em conjunto com a análise das anomalias climáticas foram utilizadas para a avaliação dos efeitos desta estiagem. Analisando a variação temporal dos índices obtidos, em especial quando comparados com o período de normalidade climática, concluiu-se que a cobertura vegetal do município foi negativamente afetada durante o período de estiagem e que o método utilizado apresentou êxito para a caracterização destes eventos sobre a cobertura vegetal.

A dry period was registered in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in 2022, changing the dynamics of the landscape and compromising the performance of agriculture in the state. Observing the spectral behavior of vegetation during extreme weather events is important for understanding the intensity of these processes and for analyzing future trends. The main objective of this research was to analyze the behavior of the vegetation cover in the municipality of Rolador - RS during the dry period recorded during the 2021/2022 summer harvest, an event that strongly affected this state and produced significant impacts on the entire economy of Rio Grande do Sul. To achieve the proposed objectives, the study area was delimited with the classification of land use and land cover in the municipality and the polygons classified as agriculture were selected. A climatic characterization was carried out during the summer crop harvests in a period of climatic normality and the dry period under study. Time series using Normalized Difference Vegetation Indices (NDVI) for agricultural polygons, together with the analysis of climate anomalies were used to assess the effects of this drought. Analyzing the temporal variation of the indexes obtained, especially when compared with the period of climatic normality, it was concluded that the vegetation cover of the municipality was negatively affected during the dry period and that the method used was successful for the characterization of these events on the vegetal cover.
