Desafios e reflexões sobre o ensino de geografia nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental

Abstract

O presente trabalho abrange os desafios e as reflexões sobre o ensino da Geografia nos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. A pesquisa procurou discutir as possibilidades e a importância de se aprender Geografia nesse nível de ensino, a partir da leitura do mundo, da vida e do espaço em que a criança vive, o que inclui um levantamento sobre o ensino da Geografia, análise da legislação brasileira vigente, a Base Nacional Comum Curricular, a formação inicial e continuada dos professores. O objetivo principal da pesquisa foi compreender a importância do ensino de Geografia nos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental para a construção das noções espaciais nas/das crianças, levando em consideração que a Geografia é uma área do conhecimento muito importante, especialmente nos primeiros anos da escolaridade, pois nessa fase a criança precisa descobrir o mundo que o cerca como forma de orientação, localização e atuação no meio em que vive. O estudo é alicerçado em duas vertentes, a bibliográfica e a qualitativa, abrangendo o ensino da Geografia através de pesquisa de campo com professores de 3º, 4º e 5º anos do Ensino Fundamental I, do município de Santana da Boa Vista/RS. Com este trabalho, pode-se compreender um pouco das dificuldades encontradas na docência e no ensino de Geografia nos Anos Iniciais, em que ficou evidenciada a falta de recursos didáticos, assim como, atividades que valorizem a vivência e realidade da criança. Neste sentido, reforça a importância de práticas pedagógicas mais dinâmicas, criativas, atrativas, e principalmente que valorizem o conhecimento prévio da criança.

The present work covers the challenges and reflections on the teaching of Geography in the Early Years of Primary Education. The research sought to discuss the possibilities and the importance of learning Geography at this level of education, based on the reading of the world, life and the space in which the child lives, which includes a survey on the teaching of Geography, analysis of the current Brazilian legislation, the Common National Curricular Base, and the initial and continuing education of teachers. The main objective of the research was to understand the importance of teaching Geography in the Early Years of Primary Education for the construction of spatial notions in children, taking into account that Geography is a very important area of knowledge, especially in the early years of schooling, because at this stage the child needs to discover the world around him/her as a way of orientation, location and action in the environment in which he/she lives. The study is based on two aspects, the bibliographic and the qualitative, covering the teaching of Geography through field research with teachers of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th years of elementary school in the city of Santana da Boa Vista/RS. With this work, it was possible to understand some of the difficulties encountered in teaching and in the teaching of Geography in the Early Years, in which it was evident the lack of didactic resources, as well as activities that value the experience and reality of the child. In this sense, it reinforces the importance of more dynamic, creative, and attractive pedagogical practices, and especially those that value the child's previous knowledge.
