A infamiliar perversidade de William Wilson

Abstract

O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a presença do princípio O Infamiliar (Das Unheimliche), teorizado por Sigmund Freud, na obra O Demônio da Perversidade, de Edgar Allan Poe, e a maneira através da qual o princípio presente em O Infamiliar e em O Demônio da Perversidade pode ser observado em ação no conto William Wilson, também de Edgar Allan Poe, observando a presença do duplo neste conto como uma projeção do inconsciente do personagem. A análise se apoia prioritariamente em textos teóricos de Otto Rank, Brett Zimmerman, Scott Peeples e Daniel Hoffman.

The aim of this article is to analyze the presence of the principle The Uncanny (Das Unheimliche) theorized by Sigmund Freud in the short story The Imp of the Perverse, by Edgar Allan Poe, and the way through which the principle present in The Uncanny and in The Imp of the Perverse can be observed as manifested inthe short story William Wilson, also by Edgar Allan Poe, readingthe character’s double asa representation of his unconscious. This analysis is supported mainly by theoretical works byOtto Rank, Brett Zimmerman, Scott Peeples and Daniel Hoffman.
