O capacitismo na percepção de uma comunidade universitária

Abstract

Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar a percepção da comunidade universitária, em uma instituição federal de ensino superior, para compreender de que forma se dá a inclusão de alunos cotistas com deficiência na graduação. Para tanto, apresentou-se as ações necessárias para a inclusão desses alunos na universidade e se analisou as percepções dos diversos atores envolvidos da instituição, tais como: docentes, comissões de graduação (COMGRAD), servidores do núcleo de inclusão e acessibilidade e pesquisador na área de inclusão de pessoas com deficiência (PcD). Além disso, identificou-se ações de capacitação oferecidas pela universidade para as unidades que recebem alunos com deficiência, mostrando a percepção dos alunos com deficiência sobre o processo de inclusão. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, que permitiu maior proximidade com o problema, possibilitando uma relação dinâmica entre o ambiente e o sujeito. O estudo de caráter exploratório permitiu investigar e explicar a percepção do capacitismo na universidade, um fenômeno que teve início em 2018, com a implementação das ações afirmativas para PcD na instituição pesquisada. O trabalho foi realizado com um grupo focal de seis alunos com deficiência e com entrevistas semiestruturadas individuais aplicadas aos 17 participantes. Constatou-se que o processo de ações afirmativas, para PcD na universidade, foi um marco para o acesso desse grupo ao ensino superior. Conclui-se que há urgência de adaptações visando a inclusão dos alunos com deficiência, sobretudo no que diz respeito ao rompimento de barreiras atitudinais, de modo que ocorra seu pleno acesso à universidade. Além disso, faz-se importante a criação de políticas inclusivas institucionais que atendam às necessidades desses estudantes e que preparem os servidores para que os recebam e os incluam. Como contribuição social desta pesquisa, espera-se que auxilie nas ações e nas políticas da instituição que sejam voltadas às PcD, para que essa ofereça ambientes inclusivos e acessíveis a todos.

This study aimed to analyze the university community perception, in a federal institution of higher education, to understand how the inclusion of quota students with disabilities in undergraduate studies occurs. To this end, the actions necessary for the inclusion of these students in the university have been presented and the perceptions of the various actors involved in the institution have been evaluated, such as: teachers, undergraduate commissions (COMGRAD), inclusion and accessibility servers and researchers in the area of people with disabilities inclusion. In addition, training offered by the university for units that receive students with disabilities have been identified, showing the students with disabilities perception about the inclusion process. It is a qualitative research, which allowed greater proximity to the problem, making possible a dynamic relationship between the environment and the subject. The exploratory study permitted to investigate and to explain the perception of ableism in the university, a phenomenon that started in 2018, with the implementation of affirmative actions for people with disabilities in the institution studied. The work was conducted with a focus group of six students with disabilities, with individual semi-structured interviews applied to the 17 participants. It has been found that the affirmative action process, for people with disabilities at the university, was a landmark for the access of this group to higher education. It has been concluded that the urgency exists to adaptations regarding students with disabilities inclusion, above all with regard to the breaking attitude barriers, so that they have full access to the university. In addition, it is important to create inclusive institutional policies that meet the needs of these students and prepare the servers to receive and include them. As a social contribution of this research, the expectancy is to assist with the institution actions and policies that are being created for people with disabilities, so that it offers inclusive and accessible environments for all.
