Abstract

Este trabalho busca analisar as representações de gênero e sexualidade no filme The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), investigando sua contribuição para a desconstrução de normas heterossexuais no cinema e a promoção de uma perspectiva queer que celebra a liberdade sexual. Situado no contexto da contracultura e da segunda onda feminista, o filme é um marco no movimento queer, utilizando elementos narrativos e estéticos para questionar e tensionar estereótipos de gênero e sexualidade. A pesquisa fundamenta-se em teóricos como Judith Butler (2003), Joan Scott (1995), Linda Nicholson (2000), Denilson Lopes (2006), Guacira Lopes Louro (2004) e Jacques Aumont (2009), para articular conceitos de gênero, perspectiva queer e estética. A pesquisa utiliza uma abordagem interdisciplinar, a partir de uma análise histórica das representações queer no cinema e uma análise fílmica detalhada dos personagens e dos elementos visuais e sonoros do filme, como figurino, maquiagem, trilha sonora e direção de arte. Os resultados da análise revelam que o filme se apoia em uma estética camp para subverter padrões tradicionais ao evidenciar o aspecto construtivo de gênero e sexualidade. A análise também revelou que o impacto da obra não se limita apenas à sua época, inspirando novas gerações a refletirem sobre gênero, sexualidade e identidade. Por fim, a pesquisa confirma a contribuição do filme para a desconstrução de normas de gênero e sexualidade, ampliando as possibilidades de representação no cinema.

This final paper aims to analyze the representations of gender and sexuality in the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), investigating its contribution to the deconstruction of heterosexual norms in cinema and the promotion of a queer perspective that celebrates sexual freedom. Set in the context of counterculture and second-wave feminism, the film is a landmark in the queer movement, using narrative and aesthetic elements to question and challenge stereotypes of gender and sexuality. The research is based on theorists such as Judith Butler (2003), Joan Scott (1995), Linda Nicholson (2000), Denilson Lopes (2006), Guacira Lopes Louro (2008) and Jacques Aumont (1995), to articulate concepts of gender, queer perspective and aesthetics. The research uses an interdisciplinary approach, based on a historical analysis of queer representations in cinema and a detailed film analysis of the characters and the visual and sound elements of the film, such as costumes, makeup, soundtrack and art direction. The results of the analysis reveal that the film relies on a camp aesthetic to subvert traditional standards by highlighting the constructive aspect of gender and sexuality. The analysis also revealed that the impact of the work is not limited to its time, inspiring new generations to reflect on gender, sexuality and identity. Finally, the research confirms the contribution of the film to the deconstruction of gender and sexuality norms, expanding the possibilities of representation in cinema.
