Estudo de percepção dos pesquisadores brasileiros da Odontologia sobre a ordem de autoria

Abstract

O estudo investigou a percepção dos pesquisadores da Odontologia sobre a ordem de autoria. Discorreu sobre os conceitos de colaboração científica e coautoria, partindo do pressuposto de que não são sinônimos; bem como o conceito de ordem de autoria encontrado na literatura. Como objetivo geral, buscou investigar o entendimento que os pesquisadores da Odontologia possuem acerca da ordem de autoria e sobre a responsabilidade do autor correspondente nas publicações. Para atingir o objetivo principal, foi aplicado um questionário aos autores correspondentes dos artigos científicos, publicados entre 2014-2023, e que estão indexados na Web of Science. Foram coletadas 632 respostas para perguntas abertas e fechadas. Para estruturar e analisar os resultados utilizou-se a Análise de Conteúdo, assim como a estatística descritiva por meio da frequência, com abordagem quanti-quali. Foi possível aferir que os pesquisadores da Odontologia possuem bom entendimento da ordem de autoria, principalmente quando se trata da autoria de correspondência. Observou-se neste estudo: a última posição é reservada ao orientador, supervisor ou coordenador da pesquisa; a primeira posição deve ser para quem mais colaborou na pesquisa; e o autor de correspondência deve ser alguém com vínculo duradouro com a pesquisa para intermediar a comunicação entre os demais coautores, pareceristas e leitores com dúvidas. Infere-se que, a partir das discussões apresentadas ao longo desta dissertação, que pesquisadores em cargos de liderança ou coordenação podem utilizar as informações obtidas para elaborar diretrizes que fortaleçam e orientem boas práticas de pesquisa no que se refere à ordem de autoria, tornando o processo mais ético e transparente.

The study investigated the perception of Dentistry researchers regarding authorship order. It discussed the concepts of scientific collaboration and co-authorship, based on the assumption that they are not synonymous, as well as the concept of authorship order found in the literature. The general objective was to investigate the understanding that Dentistry researchers have about authorship order and the responsibility of the corresponding author in scientific publications. To achieve this main goal, a questionnaire was applied to the corresponding authors of scientific articles published between 2014 and 2023 and indexed in the Web of Science. A total of 632 responses to both open- and closed-ended questions were collected. To structure and analyze the results, Content Analysis was employed, along with descriptive statistics through frequency analysis, using a quantitative-qualitative approach. The study found that Dentistry researchers have a good understanding of authorship order, especially concerning corresponding authorship. It was observed that the last position is reserved for the advisor, supervisor, or research coordinator; the first position should be assigned to the individual who contributed the most to the research; and the corresponding author should be someone with a lasting connection to the research, capable of mediating communication between co-authors, peer reviewers, and readers with inquiries. Based on the discussions presented throughout this dissertation, it is inferred that researchers in leadership or coordination roles may use the information obtained to develop guidelines that promote and guide good research practices regarding authorship order, making the process more ethical and transparent.
