Grand TCC Auto : análise das legendas do jogo Grand Theft Auto V

Abstract

O objetivo do presente trabalho é analisar as legendas em português do jogo Grand Theft Auto V. Para tanto, foram selecionados diversos trechos representativos das falas no decorrer do jogo. Os trechos são então analisados a partir dos conceitos de estrangeirização e domesticação de Venuti. Este assunto foi escolhido devido à condição do mercado de jogos como uma indústria de lucros cada vez maiores. Com a internet, sua expansão é muito facilitada, o que traz a necessidade de tradução (na maioria das vezes em forma de legendas) de jogos não somente para línguas de diversos países, mas também para as suas culturas. A análise mostra que apesar de os personagens terem características diferentes em suas falas, as principais diferenças surgem da personalidade e ações de cada um.

This work analyzes the Portuguese subtitles in the game Grand Theft Auto V. In order to do so, subtitles considered representative of the characters were selected. These excerpts are then analyzed from the viewpoint of Venuti's concepts of foreignization and domestication. This subject was chosen considering the position of the videogame market as an industry with ever increasing profits. With the internet, its expansion is further aided, which creates the need for the translation (mostly in the form of subtitles) of games not only to the languages of various countries, but also their cultures. The analysis shows that although the characters have different attributes in their speech, the main differences arise from their personalities and actions.
