Um estudo dos bairros de Porto Alegre com modelagem matemática

Abstract

Este trabalho apresenta uma pesquisa cujo objetivo foi utilizar a Modelagem Matemática para auxiliar no ensino de matemática. Para tal, usamos os conceitos de ambiente de aprendizagem, embasados nos trabalhos de Skovsmose, assim como as perspectivas de Barbosa sobre Modelagem Matemática. Como metodologia de pesquisa, usamos o estudo de caso, conforme os trabalhos de Ventura e de Ponte. O tema escolhido para nortear a pesquisa foi “os bairros de Porto Alegre”. Esta pesquisa foi realizada com uma turma de 1º ano de Ensino Médio da EJA (Educação de Jovens e Adultos). O trabalho permitiu que os alunos discorressem sobre o ambiente no qual vivem, problematizando questões relevantes do seu cotidiano. Ao final do trabalho, as atividades contribuíram tanto para o ensino relacionados a cálculo de área, proporção e conjuntos, quanto para uma reflexão acerca do seu ambiente de moradia.

This research aims at using Mathematical Modeling to aid the teaching of mathematics. To accomplish this, we have been guided by the concepts of learning environment, based on the works of Skovsmose, as well as by Barbosa's perspectives on Mathematical Modeling. As for research methodology, we used the case study, according to Ventura and Ponte. The chosen theme was "the districts of Porto Alegre". This research was carried out with a freshman group of students in the EJA Program (Education of Youths and Adults). The work allowed the students to talk about the environment where they live, problematizing relevant issues of their daily life. At the end of the study, the activities seemed to have significantly contributed to the teaching related to the calculation of area, proportion, and sets, as well as to the broadening of perspectives on the part of students about their living environment.
