Abstract

(Potencial Alelopático Dos Voláteis De Schinus lentiscifolius March.). Entre as diferentes classes de metabólitos secundários das plantas, os terpenóides, substâncias constituintes dos óleos voláteis, estão envolvidos em uma variedade de interações ecológicas, atuando como potentes inibidores da germinação e crescimento de plantas. Neste estudo observou-se a atividade fitotóxica do óleo volátil de Schinus lentiscifolius sobre a germinação da alface e do trevo vermelho. Efeito mais expressivo foi observado sobre o crescimento inicial de plântulas de cebola. Os resultados demonstram a atividade fitotóxica do óleo essencial de S. lentiscifolius e sugere que tais substâncias voláteis possam desempenhar papel importante nas interações dessas plantas com a biota associada, exibindo inclusive efeitos alelopáticos.

Among the different classes of secondary metabolites of plants, terpenoids, substances presents in volatile oils, are involved in a variety of ecological interactions, acting as potent inhibitors of germination and plant growth. In this study we observed the phytotoxic activity of the volatile oil from Schinus lentiscifolius in the germination of lettuce and red clover. More significant effect was observed on the initial growth of onion seedlings. The results show the phytotoxicity of the essential oil of S. lentiscifolius and suggest that these volatile substances can play an important role in the interactions between this plants and the associated plants, exhibiting allelopathic effects.
