Cidade Baixa que se mostra, Cidade Baixa que se vê : o ensino de arte e as visualidades de uma região urbana

Abstract

O presente trabalho de conclusão de curso busca investigar o bairro Cidade Baixa, de Porto Alegre, no que se refere às interferências visuais (objetos, pichações, grafites ou outras interferências), às visualidades presentes nele, vinculando o estudo dessas visualidades ao ensino de arte. Para tanto se baseou, além da pesquisa bibliográfica, em pesquisa in loco, nas muitas incursões feitas no bairro, nos registros fotográficos e na análise e interpretação dos resultados por meio de uma categorização numérica inicial das intervenções/ações/visualidades reunidas. Incidindo sobre esse conjunto de informações um olhar flexível, abastecido pela teoria, foi possível descobrir – no dicionário: tirar a cobertura, mostrar, encontrar com os olhos – informações que revelaram sentidos, significados, sentimentos, saberes. A forma como o bairro e seus públicos – moradores, frequentadores, comerciantes – funcionam também se deixa mostrar quando se dá atenção às suas manifestações. No que se refere ao ensino de arte, a partir do momento em que a atualidade registra um boom de estímulos visuais, quer pelos meios de comunicação, quer pela sujeição a apelos cada vez mais centrados na imagem, levar o aluno a se tornar ativo frente a esses estímulos, a se posicionar de modo interpretativo/produtivo, é de grande importância para a construção de seu repertório artístico, pessoal e até mesmo profissional. Um dos princípios formadores dessa abordagem de estudo e de ensino é o de extrapolar os parâmetros da arte para além do campo erudito, vinculando-a e identificando-a como constituinte da cotidianidade.

This paper investigates Cidade Baixa district in Porto Alegre, with regard to visual interferences (objects, graffiti, graffiti or other interferences) and the visual arts present in it, linking the study of these visual arts to art education. The work was based in literature and in situ research, through many walks in the neighborhood, studying photographic records and analysing the results through a numerical categorization of interventions / actions / visualities gathered. Applying on this set of information a flexible look and referenced by theory, it was possible to discover - from the dictionary: take cover, show, meet the eyes - information that reveals meanings, feelings, knowledge. The way the district and its public behave - residents, goers, traders - also can be perceived when someone pays attention to its manifestations. With regard to the art education, at a time when there is a boom of visual stimuli, either by the media or by subjection to increasingly focussed image appeals, lead students to become active in relation to such stimuli, positioning in a interpretive/productive way, is of utmost importance to build their artistic, personal and even professional repertoire. One of the basic principles of this study and teaching approach is to extrapolate the art parameters beyond the classical field, linking it and identifying it as a constituent of everyday life.
