Análise de traduções de Harry Potter and the deathly hallows

Abstract

A presente monografia tem como escopo a análise de excertos de duas traduções do livro Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, tanto a tradução oficial quanto a . A obra é o sétimo livro da famosa série de Harry Potter escrita pela autora inglesa por J. K. Rowling. De início, contextualiza-se o trabalho apresentando a tradutora oficial do livro no Brasil, Lia Wyler. Após isso, aborda-se os pressupostos teóricos a respeito do processo de tradução que foram selecionados para nortear nossa análise. Finalmente, parte-se para a análise dos trechos escolhidos das traduções, com o objetivo de compará-las e averiguar a escolha de cada termo ou frase nas diferentes versões. Foram selecionadas algumas das partes que mais chamavam atenção ou por serem difíceis de serem traduzidas ou por apresentarem diferentes resoluções tradutórias pelos respectivos tradutores. A análise foi feita comparando-se os trechos sequencialmente e, após a apresentação de cada um, foram feitas observações acerca das alternativas escolhidas.

This paper aims to analyze excerpts of two translations of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the official translation as well as the nonofficial. The book is the 7th of the famous Harry Potter series, written by J. K. Rowling. Firstly, this thesis is contextualized with the introduction of the official translator in Brazil, Lia Wyler. Then, it turns to briefly explain the theoretical basis about the process of translation which guided our analysis. Finally, we reach the analysis itself, contrasting the excerpts chosen to investigate the decisions made by the different translators to translate specific terms and sentences because they were challenging or because of the different results brought by the translators. The analysis was made by comparing the excerpts sequentially, and then observations about the translation decisions were made.
