A fisicalidade no conto “On the train”, de Olga Masters : registro de uma tradução colaborativa

Abstract

Registro da disciplina de Tradução IV, este trabalho se propõe a analisar diferentes possibilidades de representação da fisicalidade e identificar como escolhemos itens lexicais para refletir no movimento emocional das personagens no texto. Através da análise de registros feitos do quadro da sala de aula, analizamos, em grupo, as diferentes traduções possíveis para o conto “On the train”, de Olga Masters. Após a análise, foram escolhidos trechos que ilustram o processo tradutório e as tentativas de representar a fisicalidade dos movimentos emocionais das personagens, ou seja, como expressam-se através do corpo. São objetivos secundários descrever e comparar as traduções a que chegamos e as implicações de seus usos no texto, trazendo diferentes olhares sobre escolhas lexicais feitas em sala de aula. Entre os resultados do trabalho estão o registro do processo de atividades desenvolvidas ao longo do semestre de 2019/2, assim como considerações acerca do processo tradutório e dos resultados a que chegamos como turma, além das próprias reflexões da autora sobre as escolhas lexicais utilizadas.

As a record of the course Tradução IV, this work aims to analyze different possibilities of representing physical movements and identify how lexical choices were made in order to reflect the emotional movements of the characters in the text. With the help of pictures taken of the classroom board, in a large group, we analyzed possible translations for “On the train”, by Olga Masters. After the analysis, segments of the text that illustrate the translation process were chosen in order to represent how emotions were portrayed by the characters, that is, how they expressed themselves with their bodies. Secondary objectives of this work are to describe and compare the translations made in class and the implications of those choices. Among the results of this work are the record of the translation process within the classes of this course in the second semester of 2019, as well as considerations regarding the work and reflections on the lexical choices made in the final translation.
