O acontecimento eleições de 2022 nas críticas do Ombudsman da Folha de S. Paulo

Abstract

O presente trabalho tem como objetivo geral analisar as críticas do ombudsman do jornal Folha de S. Paulo a respeito da cobertura jornalística do acontecimento Eleições de 2022 no Brasil. Seus objetivos específicos são: a) discutir a noção de crítica da mídia e o papel do ombudsman no jornalismo; b) analisar as eleições como acontecimento jornalístico na cobertura de política; c) apresentar o contexto das Eleições de 2022 no Brasil e d) identificar o conteúdo das críticas à cobertura das Eleições de 2022 nas colunas do ombudsman da Folha de S. Paulo. Para alcançar esses objetivos, além de fazer uma revisão teórica sobre os conceitos-chave deste trabalho (PORTO, 2004; SEABRA, 2006; FRANZONI, 2013; AZEREDO, 2019a; MOLOTCH; LESTER, 1999), a pesquisa, por meio da metodologia da Análise de Conteúdo (BARDIN, 1979; HERSCOVITZ, 2007), selecionou 34 colunas do ombudsman da Folha de S. Paulo sobre as Eleições de 2022 e identificou 81 críticas sobre a cobertura daquele acontecimento. As críticas foram classificadas em dois níveis de categorias: o primeiro diz respeito ao que é criticado (enquadramento, espaço dado, falta de cobertura e posicionamento), e o segundo refere-se a sobre o que a crítica incide (ameaças à democracia, candidaturas e partidos, eleições em geral, eleitorado, meio ambiente e pesquisa eleitoral). Os resultados mostram que foram feitas mais críticas ao enquadramento e ao espaço dado na cobertura sobre assuntos relacionados às candidaturas e partidos e às ameaças à democracia. O trabalho conclui que as críticas efetuadas pelo ombudsman se repetem no contexto das Eleições de 2022 em comparação com a cobertura de eleições anteriores, refletindo a falta de resolução dos problemas do jornalismo ao acompanhar a realização do acontecimento.

The present work aims to analyze the criticisms of the Folha de S. Paulo ombudsman regarding the journalistic coverage of the 2022 Elections event. Its specific objectives are: a) to discuss the notion of media criticism and the role of the ombudsman in journalism; b) to analyze the elections as a journalistic event in the coverage of politics; c) to present the context of the 2022 Elections in Brazil and d) to identify the content of the criticism of the coverage of the 2022 Elections in the columns of the Folha de S. Paulo ombudsman. In order to achieve these objectives, as well as carrying out a theoretical review of the key concepts of this work PORTO, 2004; SEABRA, 2006; FRANZONI, 2013; AZEREDO, 2019a; MOLOTCH; LESTER, 1999), the research, using the Content Analysis methodology (BARDIN, 1979; HERSCOVITZ, 2007), selected 34 columns by the Folha de S. Paulo ombudsman on the 2022 Elections and identified 81 criticisms of the coverage of that event. The criticisms were classified into two levels of categories: the first says what it is (framing, space given, lack of coverage and positioning) and the second refers to what the criticism is about (threats to democracy, candidates and parties, elections in general, electorate, environment and electoral research). The results show that there was more criticism of the framing and space given to issues related to candidates and parties and threats to democracy. The paper concludes that the criticisms made by the ombudsman are repeated in the context of the 2022 Elections compared to the coverage of previous elections, reflecting the lack of resolution of journalism's problems in accompanying the event.
