Ambiente, memória e representações : a RESEX Marinha Mãe Grande Curuçá (1990-2023) - Pará, Amazônia

Abstract

Este trabalho buscou discutir o processo de criação da Reserva Extrativista (RESEX) Marinha Mãe Grande Curuçá, localizada no Município de Curuçá – Zona Costeira do Estado do Pará. O foco foi buscar em documentos e nas narrativas dos interlocutores elementos que enunciam a participação dos moradores locais na organização dessa reserva de Uso Sustentável. Para compreender essa dinâmica buscamos a História Oral como meio para acessar as lembranças que os entrevistados têm desse processo. Paralelamente, as discussões da História Cultural e da História Ambiental foram utilizadas para ressaltar as representações elaboradas por eles a respeito dessa política ambiental. Neste trabalho, destacamos fontes que enunciam que a experiência dos pescadores artesanais foi o fator que fomentou a criação da RESEX Mãe Grande Curuçá. Dentro desse contexto, o presente estudo reuniu autores que produziram reflexões sobre a questão cultural e ambiental, destacando, sobretudo, os estudos que propõem uma discussão de caráter histórico. Nesse aspecto, o trabalho apresenta a formação da RESEX Marinha Mãe Grande Curuçá, ressaltando a sua dinâmica a partir da década de 1990 até o ano de 2023. Ademais, evidenciamos o posicionamento dos interlocutores diante do projeto de carcinicultura que causou “prejuízo” ambiental a comunidade de Caratateua, distrito de Curuçá. Com isso, notamos que as discussões sobre a Unidade de Uso Sustentável passaram a fazer parte da narrativa dos interlocutores, no sentido de eles utilizarem o conteúdo ambiental da política em suas discussões em defesa do ambiente costeiro paraense.

This work sought to discuss the process of creating the Mãe Grande Curuçá Marine Extractive Reserve (RESEX), located in the municipality of Curuçá - in the coastal zone of the state of Pará. The focus was on documents and the narratives of the interlocutors, which show the participation of local residents in the organization of this Sustainable Use Reserve. In order to understand this dynamic, we used oral history as a means of accessing the interviewees' memories of this process. At the same time, discussions of Cultural History and Environmental History were used to highlight the representations they made about this environmental policy. In this work, we highlight sources that state that the experience of artisanal fishermen was the factor that fostered the creation of the Mãe Grande Curuçá RESEX. Within this context, this study brought together authors who have produced reflections on the cultural and environmental issue, highlighting, above all, studies that propose a discussion of a historical nature. In this respect, the paper presents the formation of the Mãe Grande Curuçá Marine Reserve, highlighting its dynamics from the 1990s until 2023. In addition, we highlight the position of the interlocutors with regard to the shrimp farming project that caused environmental “prejudice” to the community of Caratateua, a district of Curuçá. As a result, we noticed that discussions about the Sustainable Use Unit became part of the interlocutors' narrative, in the sense that they used the environmental content of the policy in their discussions in defense of the coastal environment of Pará.
