Cultura política dos jovens estudantes de Porto Alegre - RS : os efeitos do avanço das redes digitais nas atitudes e comportamentos políticos

Abstract

Considerando as revoluções históricas, principalmente as que ocorreram a partir do século XX e XXI no campo da comunicação, as revoluções tecnológicas, o uso da internet e as redes digitais e seus efeitos na contemporaneidade, tanto na cultura política quanto a socialização política dos jovens, este trabalho tem como escopo analisar a relação entre o uso da internet e as redes digitais sociais na cultura política dos jovens estudantes de ensino médio da cidade de Porto Alegre, Rio grande do Sul. Desta forma, situa-se como problema que norteia essa pesquisa: “Quais os efeitos do avanço das redes digitais na cultura política dos jovens estudantes de Porto Alegre?” A partir desse questionamento, este estudo tem como objetivo geral analisar os efeitos do avanço das redes digitais na cultura política dos jovens estudantes. Os objetivos específicos são: 1. Contextualizar a apropriação do uso das redes digitais pelos jovens no Brasil; 2. Analise longitudinal do período entre os anos de 2002, 2015,2019 e 2023 de atitudes e comportamentos políticos dos jovens estudantes; 3. Analisar a relação entre uso das redes digitais e a cultura política juvenil. Para alcançar esses objetivos, esta análise utilizou a metodologia quantitativa, com análise de dados coletados por survey , que envolveu jovens de 13 e 24 anos, do ensino médio, de escolas públicas e privadas de Porto Alegre. Os dados analisados de forma descritiva abrangem os anos de 2002 (500 jovens participantes), 2015 (690 jovens participantes), 2019 (861 jovens participantes) e 2023 (602 Jovens participantes). A hipótese é de que, quanto mais os jovens do ensino médio de Porto Alegre, utilizam a internet e as redes digitais como fonte de informação, menor é sua participação na política. As análises realizadas confirmam a hipótese e concluem que, embora os jovens estejam conectados e consumam muitas informações, esta constante participação não se traduz em ações políticas efetivas.

Considering historical revolutions, especially those that occurred from the 20th and 21st centuries onward in the field of communication, as well as technological revolutions, the use of the internet, and digital networks and their effects on contemporary society, both in political culture and in the political socialization of youth, the scope of this study is to analyze the relationship between internet and digital social network usage and the political culture of high school students in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. Thus, the central research question guiding this research is: What are the effects of the advancement of digital networks on the political culture of high school students in Porto Alegre? Based on this question, the general objective of the study is to analyze the effects of the expansion of digital networks on the political culture of young students. The specific objectives are:1. To contextualize how young people in Brazil appropriate the use of digital networks; 2. To analyze the political attitudes and behaviors of high school students between the years 2002 and 2003; 3. To analyze the relationship between the use of digital networks and youth political culture. To achieve these objectives, this study employed a quantitative methodology, using data collected through a survey involving young people aged 13 to 24, enrolled in public and private high schools in Porto Alegre. The descriptive data analyzed refer to the years 2002 (500 participants), 2015 (690 participants), 2019 (861 participants), and 2023 (602 participants). The hypothesis is that the more high school students in Porto Alegre use the internet and digital networks as sources of information, the less they participate in political activities. The analyses confirm the hypothesis and conclude that, although young people are connected and consume large amounts of information, this constant engagement does not translate into effective political action.
