Análise da produção intelectual dos pesquisadores-inventores da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul que possuem patentes

Abstract

O estudo identifica o perfil acadêmico dos pesquisadores da UFRGS envolvidos no processo de patenteamento, verifica os canais de comunicação utilizados na divulgação da produção científica e tecnológica e identifica as características das patentes da UFRGS. O referencial teórico aborda a propriedade intelectual, propriedade industrial, produção intelectual na universidade e transferência de tecnologias. O tipo de estudo é descritivo com abordagem quantitativa, sua população são os pesquisadores e patentes da UFRGS, a amostra é composta por pesquisadores que possuem currículo Lattes e que são inventores de patentes que já saíram do período de sigilo. Constata-se que na UFRGS predominam as patentes de invenção, sendo a área de Fármacos a mais produtiva. Somente 8% dos pedidos depositados pela universidade já possuem a cartapatente, sendo duas na área de engenharia e uma na agronomia. Entre os anos de 1995 a 2004 houve um aumento crescente no número de patentes depositadas pela UFRGS que coincide com o período de criação do Escritório de Interação e Transferência de Tecnologia e da Secretaria de Desenvolvimento Tecnológico da universidade. Os pesquisadores-inventores dessas patentes são predominantemente do sexo masculino com alta qualificação acadêmica, que dominam os idiomas inglês e espanhol. Os canais de comunicação utilizados variam conforme a área, porém os que se destacam são os artigos completos apresentados em eventos e os publicados em periódicos. As informações sobre a produção tecnológica dos pesquisadores-inventores disponibilizadas no currículo Lattes são inconsistentes, não havendo padronização e nem correta identificação das mesmas. Sugere-se que os departamentos ligados a pesquisa ofereçam cursos ou palestras orientando e esclarecendo as dúvidas referentes ao preenchimento correto e uniforme dos campos do currículo Lattes, juntamente com a atualização mais freqüente do próprio currículo.

The study identifies the academic profile of the researchers of the UFRGS involved in the patenting process, verifies the communication channels used in the spreading of the scientific and technological production and identifies the characteristics of the UFRGS patents. The theoretical referential approaches the intellectual property, industrial property, intellectual production in the university and technology transfer. The type of study is descriptive with quantitative approach, its population are the researchers and patents of the UFRGS, the sample is composed by researchers that possess Lattes resume and that are inventors of patents that are already out of the period of secrecy. It is evidenced that in the UFRGS the invention patents predominate, being the Pharmacy area the most productive one. Only 8% of the requests deposited by the university already possess letter-patent, being two in the area of engineering and one in agronomy. Between 1995 and 2004, an increase in the number of patents deposited by the UFRGS happened, which coincides with the period of creation of the Office of Interaction and Technology Transfer and of the Secretariat of Technological Development of the university. The researcher-inventors of these patents are predominantly of the masculine sex with high academic qualification, that dominate the languages English and Spanish. The communication channels used vary depending on the area, however the ones that stand out are the complete articles presented in events and the periodic published ones. The information on the technological production of the researcher-inventors available in the Lattes resume are inconsistent, without standardization and correct identification of the information. It is suggested that departments involved with research offer courses or lectures guiding and clarifying the doubts referring to the correct and standardized fulfilling of the fields from the Lattes resume, together with more frequent update of the resume itself.
