As repercussões do processo de morte e morrer em trabalhadores da área da enfermagem : uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

A morte é uma etapa inevitável da vida e não se sabe como, quando ou quais as circunstâncias que serão exigidas do profissional da saúde para esse momento. O trabalho da enfermagem é essencial e abrange uma gama ampla de responsabilidades dentro do sistema de saúde. Os enfermeiros são fundamentais em todos os estágios do cuidado ao paciente, desde o acolhimento inicial até o tratamento contínuo e a reabilitação. Abordando o contexto da terminalidade, a enfermagem desempenha um papel essencial na prestação de cuidados que vão além do aspecto físico, compreendendo as necessidades emocionais, culturais e espirituais do paciente e de seus familiares. Além disso, sabemos a importância do profissional neste contexto, mas somos instruídos a cuidar, proteger e promover o bem estar dos pacientes. Contudo, diante de uma tragédia, qual é o impacto emocional experimentado por esses profissionais e como enfrentam essa difícil situação? O artigo trata de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, no qual foram realizadas buscas de artigos na base de dados Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online (Medline), Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (Lilacs) e a Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), utilizando os termos de busca: Atitude frente a morte (Attitude to death, Actitude frente a la muerte), Enfermagem, (Nursing, Enfermaria), Saúde mental (Mental Health, Salud Mental) e Morte (Death, Muerte), sendo selecionados dez artigos para a utilização neste trabalho. Os resultados foram agrupados em duas categorias: Repercussões do processo de morte e as estratégias utilizadas no enfrentamento, as quais foram divididas nos outros subtemas: sentimentos vivenciados pela equipe de Enfermagem, esgotamento emocional, desenvolvimento de estratégias de Enfrentamento, estratégias defensivas, formação enquanto estratégia e a importância da rede de apoio interseccionada com a religiosidade. Com a leitura dos artigos na íntegra pode-se verificar que os sentimentos repercutidos são inerentes ao ser humano, por exemplo: tristeza, angústia e sensação de impotência. O ponto chave é ter mecanismos que nos ajudem a lidar com esses sentimentos, sendo algo essencial na formação de profissionais e como parte dos sistemas de saúde.

Death is an inevitable stage of life and it is not known how, when or what circumstances will be required of the health professional at that moment. Nursing work is essential and covers a wide range of responsibilities within the healthcare system. Nurses are essential at all stages of patient care, from initial reception to ongoing treatment and rehabilitation. Addressing the context of terminal illness, nursing plays an essential role in providing care that goes beyond the physical aspect, understanding the emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of the patient and their families. Furthermore, we know the importance of professionals in this context, but we are instructed to care, protect and promote the well-being of patients. However, in the face of a tragedy, what is the emotional impact experienced by these professionals and how do they cope with this difficult situation? With this aspect in mind, the main objective of this study was to identify in the scientific literature the repercussions of the death process on the work routine of nursing workers and what strategies are used to deal with the process of death and dying. The article deals with an integrative literature review, in which articles were searched in the database Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online (Medline), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (Lilacs) and the Virtual Library in Health (VHL), using the search terms: Attitude to death, Attitude toward death, Nursing, (Nursing, Infirmary), Mental health (Mental Health, Salud Mental) and Death (Death, Muerte), ten articles being selected for use in this work. The results were grouped into two large categories: Repercussions of the death process and the strategies used in coping, which were divided into other subthemes: feelings experienced by the Nursing team, emotional exhaustion, development of Coping strategies, defensive strategies, training while strategy and the importance of the support network intersected with religiosity. By reading the articles in full, it can be seen that the feelings reflected are inherent to human beings, for example: sadness, anguish and a feeling of impotence. The key point is to have mechanisms that help us deal with these feelings, which is essential in the training of professionals and as part of health systems.
