Um acervo para chamar de meu : bibliófilos como preservadores da cultura impressa

Abstract

A monografia apresenta estudo teórico que investiga a contribuição dos bibliófilos para a preservação do livro como suporte da informação. Relata, a partir de pesquisa bibliográfica, a origem e percurso histórico do livro até os dias atuais. Contextualiza a prática do colecionismo e investiga as características dos colecionadores. Caracteriza a bibliofilia como forma de colecionismo, especificamente colecionismo bibliográfico. Aponta as ações dos bibliófilos para compor e manter seus acervos. Busca compreender o universo da bibliofilia e do amor aos livros. Expõe a relação mantida entre bibliófilos e seus livros. Aborda o contexto da manutenção de acervos particulares fora de unidades de informação. Demonstra a importância do livro como suporte da informação a partir de seu contexto histórico e cultural. Debate a substituição ou não do livro impresso pelas novas tecnologias da informação. Mostra a participação benéfica dos bibliófilos na preservação do livro como objeto a partir do tratamento especial por eles dedicado aos livros.

The monograph presents theoretical study that investigates the bibliophiles’ contribution for the preservation of the book as an information support. According to bibliography research, it reports on the origin and the historic course of the book until the present. It contextualizes the practice of collecting and investigates the collectors’ characteristics. It features the bibliophilia as a form of collecting, specifically bibliographic collecting. It points out to the actions of the bibliophiles to create and keep collections. It searches to understand the universe of the bibliophilia and the love for the books. It exposes the relationship held between bibliophiles and their books. It addresses the context of the upkeep of particular collections which are out of information unities. It shows the importance of the book as a support of the information from its historic and cultural context. It debates the substitution or not of the printed book for new information technologies. It shows the beneficial participation of the bibliophiles in the preservation of the book as an object of the special treatment dedicated to the books by them.
