Estudo da formação e trajetória profissional dos egressos do curso de licenciatura em matemática da UFRGS

Abstract

O presente trabalho é produto de uma investigação com os egressos do Curso de Licenciatura em Matemática da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, diplomados nesta instituição no período de 2008 a 2013. Com o objetivo de retratar a atual situação profissional e a atratividade da carreira docente entre os egressos, suas motivações e suas expectativas, aplicamos um questionário e realizamos entrevistas semiestruturadas. Com esses instrumentos obtivemos informações referentes à atuação dos egressos no ensino, renda aproximada, carga horária, cidade de atuação, intenção de continuar na profissão docente, motivação para escolha do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática, grau de satisfação com o currículo do curso e intenção de continuidade dos estudos por parte dos egressos. Os dados coletados indicaram um bom grau de satisfação com o curso de Licenciatura, pois a nota média atribuída ao currículo do curso pelos respondentes, numa escala de zero a 10, foi 7,56, sendo que 80% dos respondentes atribuíram nota igual ou superior a 7. Os dados obtidos com o questionário e as entrevistas permite concluir que somente 54% dos respondentes exercem a profissão docente. Os principais motivos para exercer a docência são o amor à profissão, a sua importância para a sociedade e a realização pessoal. Em contrapartida, 39% dos respondentes nunca exerceram a profissão ou a exerceram e abandonaram. Salários muito baixos, o ter outra profissão, a continuidade de estudos e a precária infraestrutura das escolas são as principais explicações mencionadas para não exercerem a docência.

This work is the product of an investigation with the graduates from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, licensed in Mathematics in this institution from 2008 to 2013. In order to portray the current situation and the career attractiveness of teaching among the graduates, their motivations and expectations, we applied a questionnaire and conducted semi-structured interviews. We obtained information regarding the performance of graduates in teaching, their approximate income, workload, city of action. We also obtained information regarding their intention to go on teaching, their motivation to choose the degree in Mathematics, the degree of satisfaction with the course curriculum and the intention of pursuing studies among the graduates. The data collected indicated a good level of satisfaction with the Degree, since the average score given to the curriculum of the course by the respondents, a scale of zero to 10 was 7.56, with 80% of respondents attributed grade equal or higher 7. the data obtained from the questionnaire and interviews shows that only 54% of respondents engaged in the teaching profession. The main reasons for exercising are teaching the love of the profession, its importance to society and personal fulfillment. In contrast, 39% of respondents have never exercised the profession or exercised and abandoned. Very low wages, have another profession, to continue their studies and the poor infrastructure of the schools are the main explanations cited for not exercising teaching.
