“Verdades” : uma pesquisa acerca da carreira matemática da mulher

Abstract

Em nossa cultura percebemos ainda muitos discursos que reproduzem a inferioridade da mulher, por exemplo na Matemática, que existem diversas “verdades” que inferiorizam a mulher nesta carreira, gerando obstáculos que dificultam ou impossibilitam mulheres a serem pesquisadoras na área. Assim, o presente trabalho investiga essas “verdades” e suas consequências na atualidade, buscando responder: Como as “verdades” fixadas para o gênero feminino afetam o desenvolvimento da carreira matemática da mulher?. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida com a abordagem qualitativa, sendo realizadas entrevistas com quatro mulheres, três destas alunas dos cursos de Matemática e uma professora doutora em Matemática. A partir das entrevistas, pode-se perceber que as “verdades” estão também entremeadas nas vidas das entrevistadas.

In our culture, we still perceive many discourses that reproduce the inferiority of women, for example in Mathematics, that there are several “truths” that make women inferior in this career, generating obstacles that make it difficult or impossible for women to be researchers in the area. Thus, the present work investigates these “truths” and their consequences today, seeking to answer: How do the “truths” fixed for the female gender affect the development of a woman's mathematical career?. The research was developed with a qualitative approach, with interviews being carried out with four women, three of these students from the Mathematics courses and a professor with a PhD in Mathematics. From the interviews, it can be seen that the “truths” are also woven into the lives of the interviewees.
