Entretanto, estudantes em mobilidade acadêmica ainda enfrentam muitos desafios concretos em suas vivências universitárias por conta de preconceitos linguísticos. O presente trabalho visa discutir as representações do Português Brasileiro (PB) no contexto universitário português, bem como as ideologias linguísticas envolvidas na relação histórica entre o PB e o Português Europeu (PE). Para isso, retomam-se os conceitos de língua bicêntrica e pluricêntrica (CLYNE, 1992; SILVA, 2018) a fim de se refletir sobre a internacionalização da língua portuguesa e seu lugar no mundo atual. Investigou-se, ainda, o aumento do número de alunos brasileiros matriculados em instituições de ensino superior portuguesas, que evidencia a necessidade de compreender a abordagem dada ao PB nesses espaços. Com esse propósito, utilizaram-se relatos de uma pesquisa inédita qualitativa interpretativa realizada com estudantes internacionais matriculados em uma universidade no interior de Portugal, falantes de português como língua materna ou oficial. Propomos uma análise dos dados tendo como base a seguinte hipótese norteadora: o uso do PB afeta as vivências de alunos brasileiros no meio universitário português. Objetivou-se, por meio disso, compreender de que forma são reproduzidas ideologias de inferioridade linguística e quais são suas implicações práticas na realidade desses alunos em defesa do rompimento do estigma de inferiorização do PB em detrimento do PE, propondo reflexões sobre a diversidade linguística nesses espaços. Ademais, o estudo buscou promover uma abordagem crítica baseada na experiência dos sujeitos, que atesta o desprestígio social e institucional dado ao PB, propondo a construção de políticas linguísticas de língua portuguesa que se deem pelo viés da interculturalidade a fim de combater a reprodução de concepções obsoletas – que fomentam uma perspectiva de exclusão social por meio da “intolerância linguistico-intercultural” (RIBEIRO, 2022).

From a contemporary perspective of multilingualism, superdiversity, and globalization, multiple linguistic heritages are the main characteristic of this century. However, students on academic mobility still face many concrete challenges in their university experiences due to linguistic prejudices. This paper aims to discuss the representations of Brazilian Portuguese (BP) in the Portuguese university context, as well as the linguistic ideologies involved in the historical relationship between BP and European Portuguese (EP). To this end, the concepts of bicentric and pluricentric languages (CLYNE, 1992; SILVA, 2018) are revisited in order to reflect on the internationalization of the Portuguese language and its place in the current world. The study also investigated the increase in the number of Brazilian students enrolled in Portuguese higher education institutions, which highlights the need to understand the approach given to BP in these spaces. For this purpose, we used reports from an unprecedented qualitative interpretative study conducted with international students enrolled in a university in the country town of Portugal, who speak Portuguese as their mother tongue or official language. We propose an analysis of the data based on the following guiding hypothesis: the use of BP affects the experiences of Brazilian students in the Portuguese university environment. The aim was to understand how ideologies of linguistic inferiority are reproduced and what their practical implications are in the reality of these students, in defense of breaking the stigma of inferiority of BP to the detriment of EP, proposing reflections on linguistic diversity in these spaces. Furthermore, the study sought to promote a critical approach based on the subjects' experience, which attests to the social and institutional disrepute given to PB, proposing the construction of Portuguese language policies that are based on the bias of interculturality in order to combat the reproduction of obsolete conceptions - which foster a perspective of social exclusion through “linguistic-intercultural intolerance” (RIBEIRO, 2022).
